Freshening up for the summer
Snow, rain, wind and blazing sun are a strong challenge for wood every year. That is why untreated and unprotected wooden furniture often tends to turn grey when exposed to strong weather conditions. Instead of disposing of your favourite furniture pieces and paying for expensive replacements, you can treat and revive them to prolong their life and enjoy them for years to come. Wood breathes, expands and contracts, and also needs the right care for a lasting, naturally radiant look.
Using a garden bench as an example, we will show you the individual steps to give your favourite furniture piece a new lease of life.
Our garden bench has been left unprotected in the garden for a few years and the wood has now completely greyed. No problem, Osmo has the right helpers to freshen up your wood surfaces for the summer.
Simple processing steps
Osmo Holz-Entgrauer Kraft-Gel is especially recommended for decking, timber cladding, garden furniture and other similar surfaces. Plus, it is biodegradable and odourless, so there are no worries when it comes to the application.
First remove any dirt and debris from the furniture surface.
Dampen the garden bench with water and apply Osmo Holz-Entgrauer Kraft-Gel to the greyed surface.
After waiting for at least 20 minutes, Holz-Entgrauer Kraft-Gel has reacted to the wood surface and the natural wood colour has been restored. You can then remove the remaining gel with a hard brush or scrubbing brush and plenty of water.
After drying time for 48 hours under normal climatic conditions, the garden bench is ready for a new coat.
At lower temperatures or higher humidity, the drying time will be longer.
To protect the garden bench, we recommend a pigmented oil to prolong the greying process.
Osmo Bangkirai-Öl Naturgetönt transparent is suitable for the bench.
Its strong water and dirt-repelling properties and the simple application make it ideal for garden furniture.
Apply a thin coat of Osmo Terrassen-Öl with Osmo Flächenstreicher or Mikrofaserrolle. After drying for approx. 12 hours, the second coat can be applied.
For optimal long-lasting protection, reviving the surface without sanding is possible as necessary.
