Versatile solutions for your wood requirements
Three alternatives to Siberian Larch from Osmo
Our aim is to offer our customers the best wood. We travel all over the world to find wood with perfect properties for you. Or to add new products and alternatives to our range. Due to its origin in Russia, the availability of Siberian Larch, for example, has been severely restricted since 2022. Osmo is prepared for such situations: We offer you three ecologically convincing alternatives that optimally replace Siberian Larch.
Spruce in combination with an Osmo surface treatment
At Osmo, wood and wood protection have come from one single source for over 40 years. Spruce wood has played an important role at Osmo for decades - in the cladding alone, more than 70 % of annual sales are accounted for by this Nordic all-rounder. The special quality of the PEFC-certified Spruce from the forests of Scandinavia is lastingly preserved by a perfectly matched surface treatment with, for example, Osmo Holzschutz-Öl-Lasur, Landhausfarbe; the beautiful appearance and high strength of the Spruce wood are thus preserved for many years. The combination of quality Spruce and a unique finish with high-quality Osmo coating systems opens up a comprehensive product range, which offers the right product for every individual design requirement.
Spruce 2.0 - Thermowood Spruce
Spruce wood grows very slowly in Scandinavia due to the climate, which gives it a particularly fine-grained texture and high density as well as durability. Thermal modification using only heat and steam significantly improves the wood properties of Nordic Spruce even further: Thermowood from Osmo is characterised by durability, sustainability and improved dimensional stability in accordance with durability class 2. Osmo Thermowood is also sustainable, recyclable and free from chemicals as well as resistant to temperature and humidity fluctuations, mould and fungal attack. With more than 40 new Thermowood Spruce products and their expertise in colour treatment, Osmo offers the widest and deepest range in the industry and enables an infinite number of design concepts.
Larch, Douglas Fir and Cedar from Canada
Due to comparable climatic conditions, our Canadian wood species from the interior of the province of British Columbia also represent an excellent alternative. The best-known and most popular types of wood from the Canadian mountain region include Canadian Larch, Canadian Douglas Fir (Oregon Pine) and Canadian Cedar (Western Red Cedar). The woods from Canada's unique mountain ranges are not only beautiful and durable, but also sustainable and environmentally friendly, as they are produced in responsible forestry (PEFC-certified).
Our products not only guarantee the high-quality wood and coating quality you have come to expect from Osmo, but also represent sustainable and environmentally conscious solutions.
