Protect the climate, costs and privacy
A smart solar fence offers real added value all year round
Whether it is not using plastic bags, separating waste correctly or upcycling instead of buying new products, the concept of sustainability has long been firmly established in our everyday lives and is practised in a variety of ways. One fundamental aspect of climate and environmental protection is the use of renewable energy sources. This is precisely where Osmo comes into play with its new Solar-Fence. This innovative privacy screen is an alternative to conventional PV systems on roofs, carports or balcony parapets, supports a sustainable way of life and ensures greater independence from public utilities.
The system is available as a practical assembly kit and consists of either one PV module (114 x 178 cm, 430 W) or two PV modules measuring 230 x 178 cm with an output of 860 W. Solar-Fence is equipped with high-quality bifacial glass-glass modules, which increase the efficiency of the solar module and enable a higher electricity yield. The vertical installation of the modules is extremely space-saving and even ideally suited to an east-west orientation. In addition, unlike roof-mounted systems, vertically installed modules also offer good yields in the winter and spring months as well as during the morning and afternoon hours by capturing the rays of the flat sun better. The modules, which are active on both sides, utilise both direct sunlight and indirect light to generate electricity; the back can achieve up to 92% of the maximum output of the front. How much output can actually be achieved depends on the individual conditions on site, e.g. the distance to the ground, the ground conditions or any shading caused by vegetation. Unlike roof systems, the robust Solar-Fence glass-glass modules are also easy, convenient and safe to clean. There is no need for time-consuming maintenance work, special cleaning tools or even the hiring of specialised personnel. Each assembly kit consists of one or two PV modules, start and end profiles made of weather-resistant aluminium and an accessory bag. Since the anthracite grey aluminium posts are compatible with every Osmo screen, there is plenty of freedom for creative design.
‘We are convinced of the added value of our product across the board,’ emphasises Thorsten Mehlin, Sales Director at Osmo. ‘It's no coincidence that we entered our innovation for the HolzLand Award 2024, which HolzLand GmbH presented to the best in the industry at its in-house exhibition EXPO in Berlin on 20 June - and delivered a thoroughly convincing performance: Solar-Fence successfully held its own against the competition and made it into the top 3 out of the 36 entries submitted! Solar-Fence received the bronze medal on the winners' podium in the “Most Innovative Product” category. As part of the award ceremony and the various speed dating discussions on site, we took the opportunity to present our product innovation to the community in detail and to bring ourselves up-to-date with the latest developments in an informative and sociable exchange with the other HolzLand members and suppliers. So this year's EXPO was a complete success for us!’
