UNIQUE TIMBER FROM VAST CANADIAN MOUNTAIN RANGES
SOUGHT-AFTER EXPERTS: LUMBERJACKS IN CANADA’S ROCKY MOUNTAINS
Early in the morning, they have to travel long distances through dense forests and steep terrain to reach their area of operation and perform hard labour:
Canadian lumberjacks are forestry experts, chainsaw virtuosos and outdoor adventurers all rolled into one. This is what Steve and Aaron do, who have been felling trees in the Canadian Rocky Mountains for many years, sought-after experts. This is mainly because strict environment regulations have been in place for years to preserve the forests in Canada's mountain ranges.
This is why, for example, no transport routes to the harvesting areas are cut: the tree trunks are taken away by helicopter.
OSMO DECKING FROM SUSTAINABLE CANADIAN FORESTRY
For the two experienced professionals, every single tree they fell is something special. They have to plan and coordinate their work steps precisely. Among other things, the size, growth and location of the tree play a role, as do the strength and direction of the wind and the immediate surroundings in the forest.
After all, the trunk should remain as undamaged as possible when it hits the ground so that the precious wood can be utilised completely and sustainably. The first cut into the trunk must be right, as this determines the direction in which the tree will fall, down to the centimetre. Routine for Steve and Aaron, but always exciting. And for Osmo, the basis for two new decking timbers in a class of their own: Canadian Larch and Canadian Douglas Fir.
A PIECE OF ROCKY MOUNTAINS FOR YOUR OASIS
CANADIAN LARCH - TIMELESSLY ELEGANT
The warm, natural beauty of this wood from the forests of the Canadian Rocky Mountains fascinates at first glance.
Canadian Larch, known for its slow growth, offers exceptional quality and durability. This makes Larch wood the perfect choice for long-lasting decking designs:
With a timelessly elegant appearance, high strength and natural resistance to rot and pests, it has all the properties that are important for outdoor areas.
CANADIAN DOUGLAS FIR - NATURALLY ATTRACTIVE
Canadian Douglas Fir is also characterised by its particularly slow growth. Because its wood has a higher density, it is particularly robust and durable by nature.
Decking made from Canadian Douglas Fir combines natural beauty and high resistance to weathering.
This makes it possible to create long-lasting, attractive decking areas that you can enjoy for years to come.
TIP
To enjoy our new Canadian wood species for even more years to come, we recommend treating them with Osmo Terrassen-Öl.
These provide optimum protection and care for the wood surface. With the Osmo Anti-Rutsch Terrassen-Öl, you can add an non-slip effect to your decking.
